- How can I get more information about Fyre Lake?
-
You can call, write, or visit the Fyre Lake Association
Office.
- May I reserve the Covered Bridge Park?
-
The Covered Bridge Park is available to all members (in good standing) of Fyre Lake
Association. To check on availability, learn what's expected of you (as the host/hostess)
and what you'll get in return, just call or visit the
Fyre Lake Association Office
There is a $25.00 reservation fee for use of the park which helps cover replacement
of things like the tablecloths, volleyballs, nets etc. Park renters are expected
to maintain the area in the same condition as they found it. Late night (after 10:00
p.m.) loud partying or music are prohibited in respect for the nearby neighbors.
If you wish to make use of the tablecloths, volleyball equipment, horseshoe games,
etc., please plan to pick them up at the Association office during the office hours
prior to your event. In some cases where rentals follow one another on succeeding
days, the exchange of equipment may be made between the parties involved. The items
should be returned to the office as soon as possible after the event - usually on
the next office open day is satisfactory.
Our Covered Bridge dates back almost to the beginnings of Fyre Lake and is a valuable
and often-used amenity. Over the years we have seen graduation parties, family and
church gatherings, scout activities, weddings, wedding receptions, Fyre Lake activities
and more taking place at the Covered Bridge park.

- What about the Fyre Lake Sportsmen's Club?
-
The Fyre Lake Sportsmen’s Club (FLSC) is an integral part of the Fyre Lake Community.
We as members are proud of our many contributions, not just here in Fyre Lake, but
throughout the Quad Cities area.
The FLSC works with the Illinois DNR Fisheries Biologist Ken Russell doing electro
shocking and fyke net fish surveys on Fyre Lake Association lakes. Ken Russell then
determines fish stocking, fish species size and daily catch limits for healthy balanced
fisheries. The FLSC has funded annual stocking of many varieties of fish in all
three lakes. They have worked toward improvement of our fisheries with the addition
of brush piles and other fish habitat to Fyre Lake, contributed funds toward lake
dredging, and more.
Each year the Sportsman's Club adds to our Fyre Lake Days fun with a "Kids' Fishing
Derby". The "Derby" that is held on the Saturday nearest to July Fourth, at the
Fyre Lake beach/pavilion area. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., fishing from 9:00
to 11:00 a.m., prizes to be awarded at 11:00 a.m. and hot dogs, brats, chips and
pop lunch.
The FLSC is one of five charter members of the Quad City Conservation Alliance. The QCCA is a Not for Profit
(501c3) affiliation of the FLSC, Mississippi Valley Chapter Muskie’s Inc., Quad-City
In-Fisherman Club, Moline Conservation Club and the Rock Island Conservation Club.
The QCCA Expo Center hosts many shows throughout the year which directly benefit
the Sportsman's Club and the Fyre Lake community. Every year the Sportsman's Club
receives a Grant from the QCCA of approximately $2,500.00 from the proceeds of the
shows and credit for volunteer hours provided during the previous year's shows.
The majority of this money has gone directly back into projects that benefit the
Fyre Lake community and lake maintenance. To learn more about volunteering for the
2011 shows, contact Jerry Hagstrom at 788-5912 or 764-7097 (evenings).
All members are welcome to attend the FLSC meetings that are held the 1st Tuesday
of every month at 7:00 PM. Watch for the posted signs at the entrance to Fyre Lake.
- What about the Activities Committee?
-
For Fyre Lake to continue with activities and events throughout the year for the
enjoyment of both adults and youngsters, an energetic Activities Committee and willing
volunteers are always needed.
Some of the many activities often scheduled each year include an Easter Egg Hunt,
Halloween Haunted Hayrack Ride, and December Visit with Santa. Every Fourth of July
the day ends with our very own Fireworks Display which is enjoyed by many residents
and their guests. In addition, the Sportmen's Club sponsors an annual Kids' Fishing
Derby, always lots of fun for the youngest of our anglers.
Activities and events coming up will be listed on the Calendar.
- How is water service provided at Fyre Lake?
-
Since Fyre Lake is a private, rural subdivision, water service is provided by wells,
pumps, mains and storage facilities owned, operated and maintained by the Fyre Lake
Water Company, Inc., a not for profit Illinois corporation. Each Fyre Lake residence
served by the Water Company holds one membership or share in the corporation. Water
service at Fyre Lake is not metered. Homeowners pay an annual water availability
fee (currently $405.00) for water service to be provided. Billing is done in June
each year and covers the period from July 1 through June 30.
The Water Company is managed by a five-member Board of Directors elected at the
Water Company annual meeting in March of each year. View current
board members.
Even though the Water Company and the Association share the same office building
and both are funded by and provide services to the property owners and residents
of Fyre Lake, they are two distinct and separate organizations.
With approximately 270 homes served by our water system, it is under the regulation
and supervision of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Division of Public Water
Supplies. In addition to monthly bacteriological testing Fyre Lake Water
Company must also routinely monitor for numerous other constituents in drinking
water according to Federal, State and EPA regulations. Results of this testing are
reported to our customers in an annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). Every year
to date our Fyre Lake drinking water has met or exceeded all requirements.
The Board of Directors meets monthly on the second Thursday (7:00 p.m. at the Water
Company). Members are always welcome to attend these meetings and bring any questions
or concerns they have to the board.
